Electro, 2012

In Sarkisov’s video film a man hanging upside down from an electric pole symbolizes a revolution in the energy power field between the Earth and the Sky, thus suggesting a unity of the two poles. In the spirit of the Ancient Greek thinker Archimedes who believed that the body is a measure of all things, Sarkisov creates an image of an open festive space in which he spends his daily life working in the aviation. He employs radical performance methods in his work and suggests references to the myth of Prometheus. His video hero climbs to unnatural heights in violation of the gravitation law and subjecting himself to extreme danger. He is not intruding in a kingdom of mythical gods but in the no less closed field of science and technology, and in this way he tries to appropriate and humanize their sterile knowledge. Accompanied by monotonous recitation the film invites the viewer to enter the space of new landmarks and feel no less comfortable there than in conditions of stable gravitation.
